Basic information about funding
As part of the KfW program 455-B “Age-appropriate renovations”, you as a private builder can receive reimbursement of 10% of the eligible costs for the bathroom renovation. The maximum grant is 2,500 euros (previously 5,000 euros). The funding applies specifically to bathroom renovations and measures in the sanitary sector, such as changing the layout of the room, installing floor-level showers or modernizing sanitary objects. Natural persons, regardless of age or disability, who are the owners of a one- or two-family house with a maximum of two residential units or a condominium in a homeowners’ association are eligible to apply. People who rent an apartment or a single-family home can also benefit from the funding.
To claim the funding, the following requirements must be met

The funding application must be submitted before the renovation work begins.

The work must be carried out by a specialist company.

Minimum technical standards for barrier-reducing conversions must be adhered to. These are listed in the appendix of the information sheet (https://t1p.de/oxf9) on pages 6 and 7.

The craftsmen’s invoices must meet certain requirements, including: The eligible measures and work must be listed in German and the address of the construction project must be stated. The invoices must be paid by bank transfer.
Application
The application is submitted online via the KfW funding portal (www.kfw.de/zuschussportal). Registration is required beforehand. After filling out and sending the application, you will usually receive a funding confirmation within one day, provided all the requirements are met. With this commitment, construction work can then begin immediately.
